MINISTER MICHAEL HENRY APPROVES REMOVAL OF BAN WHICH PREVENTS HIACE BUSES TERMINATING IN THE KMTR

KINGSTON JAMAICA, MAY 3, 2017

Minister of Transport and Mining, Lester ‘Mike’ Henry, has approved the recommendation of the Transport Authority to remove the ban which prevents hiace buses terminating in the Kingston Metropolitan Transport Region (KMTR), and restrict them to terminating in Spanish Town, effective May 1, 2017.

This move is consistent with the thrust of the Authority to review the type of vehicles used in the public transportation sector and will seek to alleviate the hardship that some operators had expressed would result from the need to upgrade to coaster buses by March 31, 2018.

Minister Henry says the review of the type of vehicle used is ongoing and the public can anticipate greater details upon completion of the review process.
